Our Mission

The Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) Trillium Chapter, as the regional voice for association professionals, facilitates the exchange of ideas, information and experiences to encourage personal and professional growth and prosperity for all members.

Our Strategic Plan:

To have been a model in influencing change for the benefit of our members in three key areas:

  • We have reinforced a mutually supportive relationship between the Trillium Chapter and National. Through continued dialogue and joint planning, we provide distinct yet complementary products and services.
  • All members are fully engaged consistent with their individual wishes. Our programs and services are specifically designed to meet the needs of members in our region, and furthermore, all members have equal access to all programs.
  • We are a model of leadership through volunteerism. We have a strong and effective governance structure that is emulated by others.
Our Leadership Priorities:

1. Strengthen our relationship with National.
2. Enhance our processes to understand the needs and expectations of members.
3. Improve member access to products and services.
4. Examine our resource allocation strategies.
5. Undertake a review of our governance arrangements.

Quotes from the 2007-08 Chapter Annual Report:

CSAE Trillium Chapter’s 2007-2008 year – what a year it has been! The Board of Directors and committed volunteers provided members with educational and networking sessions, excellent special events, regular communiqués, including our Forum ezine, and a variety of opportunities to give back to the association sector. We contributed to CSAE’s reputation as the “association of associations.” We also graciously accepted the Chapter of the Year Award. What a year!

This last fiscal year continued to leave the Chapter in good financial shape. This was due to the careful fiscal management of the Chapter’s funds as well as a significant increase in sponsorship revenues and an increase in revenues from our PDX events.

Over the past year the Education Committee has been actively delivering educational programming to Executive and Business members alike in order to meet our mission’s goals. Some of the topics and sessions introduced last year included:
  • Communication Strategies to build Trust and Influence - Presented by Jeff Ansell;
  • Breaking through PROJECT FOG – Presented by Dr. James Norrie;
  • Technology Day PDX – How Associations Can Leverage I.T. to Serve and Expand Membership;
  • Leadership Day PDX – Professional Development for Professionals and Volunteers;
  • Summer Summit – Building Capacity, and
  • CEO in Conversation – our popular forum for senior executives
The Communications Committee has worked diligently this past year to bring our members up to date and provide relevant information to assist members in moving their associations forward. There have been 6 issues of FORUM newsletter this past year, chock full of material.

The Membership Committee supports membership recruitment and retention through a variety of vehicles. As a result of its efforts, the Membership Committee is pleased to report that there was a net member increase of 4.5% since April 2007. There was a net increase of 3.2% for business members and a 4.5% increase for executive members.
