Chapter Service Excellence Award - Executive Member
Christine Charnock, CAE,  Canadian Rheumatology Association

Christine Charnock, CAE has been an avid volunteer for Trillium over the years – always willing and able to roll up her sleeves at the Summits, Holiday Dinner and Awards Dinner, as well a two year commitment to the Trillium Board of Directors – she is never one to shy away from tirelessly giving back and setting an example for other members.  In addition to a wonderful sense of humour, is her ability to very directly, but eloquently strike at the heart of the matter and ask the important questions which leads to discussion, which leads to innovative change that serves a purpose.  Congratulations Christine.

Chapter Service Excellence Award - Business Member
Kathy Tavares, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel

There are very few people in the industry as well-known as Kathy Tavares.  As Chair of the 2016 Summer Summit, Kathy was instrumental in ensuring a successful and engaging event.  She is articulate, innovative and members gravitate to her leadership, direction and can-do attitude. She is well recognized by Trillium members and is always helpful and a team member to new members.  She executes tasks brilliantly with a kind, compassionate disposition.  Her calm demeanor and friendliness, together with her award-winning smile, inspire Committee members and encourages them to create new ideas in order to deliver more value to the event.  Congratulations Kathy.

Chapter Emerging Talent Award - Business Member
Ammar Balika,  Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's

Ammar was encouraged to volunteer by other Trillium volunteers because they found their volunteer experience so fulfilling.  And now, he is paying it forward.  Said one of his nominators, “As a new member he educated me on the valuable networks and relationships that can be made with the CSAE Trillium Chapter and encouraged me to get involved with volunteering.”  Ammar’s strength is relationship management. As a dedicated professional he works tirelessly to support and ensure that his clients deliver a premium experience, not just an event. Trillium was fortunate enough to experience this first hand when he constructed and delivered a classy, elegant, innovating and creative networking reception at the 2017 Winter Summit in Hamilton.  Congratulations Ammar.

Presidents' Award
Steve Carroll, CAE, The Portage Group

Steve has been a member of the Holiday Dinner committee, Vice Chair and Chair of the PDX Committee, Chair of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Nominating Committee.  He has also been Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President and Past President of the Trillium Chapter Board.  He knows Trillium inside out and contributed to every aspect of it.  He also has dressed up in rock star clothing and danced to a tune at the podium.  He is a lot of fun.  He has stated that, for him, the most rewarding aspects of volunteering with Trillium are the  friendships  made with so many dedicated and enthusiastic association management colleagues and awesome association supplier friends, and contributing to the Trillium Chapter success story.  Steve has been instrumental as a member of the CSAE Transition Team, looking for ways to establish an operational foundation on which we can continue to grow Trillium’s success here at home, while improving the experience of CSAE members across the country.  Steve is one of the most generous professionals many of us know – generous with his time, his experience, and his very deep knowledge of association management. Congratulations Steve.
